I know you want to start a conversation first because you think it will increase the likelihood of investment. I get it, you sent your pitch deck to 100 investors and got no response; this is your way of countering it.
We have constraints over our investment thesis, so for me to be effective, I need to understand
Then, I’ll offer you a talk with one of our VC analysts. You might see this as if I lowered your priority, but quite the opposite is the truth. I’m overloaded with work unrelated to the startup evaluation (I run the fund), and I rarely focus enough to do the startup evaluation process correctly. I know this, so we created an internal team dedicated to evaluating startups full of people with the best experience in the market. Their highest priority is to get you our response in time. I trust them more than I trust myself because they’re laser-focused.
To drag me to any kind of meeting where I don’t want to be there in the first place (thus with no preparation at all) usually breaks down conversation and harms analysts' ability to extract the information they need to do their assessment correctly. You might seriously harm your chances.
Please trust our process, we put a lot of effort and energy into make it work the right way.
